Repton Pupils Unveil Their Artistic Masterpieces at Alserkal Avenue
Pupils from Repton showcased their creativity through a diverse selection of artwork at the 2024 Alserkal Avenue exhibition.
Repton proudly presented its second annual pupil art exhibition at Alserkal Avenue’s Warehouse 46. The event was a vibrant celebration of young artistic talent, featuring a curated selection of work created by pupils from Year 9 to Year 13. Open to the public, the exhibition highlighted the diverse creative achievements of Repton’s Visual Arts and Design Technology pupils.
This year’s collection featured a variety of artistic mediums, including watercolour, oil paint, acrylic, and ink. The Design Technology department also presented unique works that incorporated contemporary materials like recycled plastics, metals, and wood, demonstrating the innovative spirit of the pupils. From intricate paintings to cutting-edge furniture designs, every piece on display offered insight into the minds and imaginations of these young artists.
Repton has long been known for nurturing creativity and self-expression, and this exhibition embodied that ethos. The pupils spent months developing their pieces, each reflecting a personal journey of discovery and technical mastery. The exhibition was a celebration of their hard work and artistic vision, culminating in a professional-level display at one of Dubai’s most esteemed art venues.
As in previous years, the exhibition featured an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding pupil achievements in both Visual Arts and Design Technology. Categories included Artist of the Year, Designer of the Year, Innovation Award, and the Outstanding Achievement Award—a reflection of the creativity and dedication displayed by the pupils throughout the school year.
Gillian Hammond, Principal of Repton School, said, “We are immensely proud of the work our pupils have produced. This exhibition is not only a platform to showcase their artistic talents but also an opportunity for them to engage with the wider community and gain recognition for their hard work. Art and design play a vital role in developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and it’s exciting to see the diverse range of ideas brought to life by our talented pupils.”
Visitors, particularly those over the age of nine, were encouraged to participate in a unique “art detective” activity designed to uncover the layered meanings within each piece. This interactive feature captivated younger audiences and deepened their appreciation of the artistic process.
The exhibition at Alserkal Avenue’s Warehouse 46 welcomed art enthusiasts, families, and the public, inviting them to explore the visionary works crafted by Repton’s pupils. It was an inspiring and intriguing experience for visitors from across the region.
