TIMSS 2019 Results
We recently received the TIMSS 2019 results and I would like to share some excellent news with you.
“The Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) is developed by the International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA). Conducted every four years since 1995, TIMSS measures student achievement in Mathematics and Science at Grades 4 and 8 (Years 5 and 9). TIMSS 2019, the seventh assessment cycle, was conducted in 64 countries and 8 benchmarking entities, with approximately 600,000 students assessed globally.” ADEK
“13,000 students across the Emirate of Dubai were selected to participate in the online assessments, representing a broad range of international curricula. To meet UAE National Agenda targets, Dubai had to place in the top 15 TIMSS countries, a goal it has exceeded” KHDA
We would like to congratulate the Dubai Education community who significantly improved on their 2014 previous TIMSS results, now consistently ranking in the top 10 countries worldwide. We are delighted to contribute to this great achievement, being among the c. 200 Dubai private schools who took part in the 2019 study.
Repton Dubai Year 5 (Grade 4) students were selected and a snapshot of the results are below. Although this study focuses on a select year group, we know that this is a reflection of many years of work across all age ranges.
It is an honour to be categorised among the top 10 countries in the world and I would like to congratulate the students across all the schools in the UAE. Their hard work and dedication has yet again put the UAE on the map in the fields of Mathematics and Science.
David Cook, Headmaster of Repton Dubai.
